how propel handles there database connection?
i am using symfony for my project.
and i used this code for executing an sql query:
$connection = Propel::getConnection(propel);
$sql = " SELECT portfolio.id, portfolio.name, portfolio.description ,portfolio.modified_date from portfolio, portfolio_user
where portfolio.id = portfolio_user.portfolio_id and portfolio_user.user_id = $user_id order by $order_flag $order";
$stmt = $connection->createStatement();
$record_set = $stmt->executeQuery($sql, ResultSet::FETCHMODE_NUM);
is it necessary to close the propel connection
If you have server application such as tomcat/JBoss and etc you can put ur trust on them. (You need to create connection pool and datasource).
If you handle it all by urself you should close them after you done using them.
