2008 Club Rules
- Players shall notify the manager 5 days in advance via e-mail if they cannot attend a scheduled match. Please check the schedule of fixtures often so you know ahead of time, if you need to be out.
- Players shall notify the manager via e-mail 24 hours in advance if they cannot attend a scheduled practice. Players that fail to notify the manager that they are missing practice may be taken out of the starting 11.
- Players must bring all uniforms (currently 3 for the reserves, and 4 for the seniors) clean to every match, as we must be prepared to change into another uniform minutes before match time if necessary. Players must turn in their jerseys at the end of a match, and must wash the used shorts and socks before the following match. Uniforms (jerseys, shorts, and socks) will remain the property of the club until they are retired.
- Players must attend 75% of games and practices to maintain their spot on the roster.
- There will be a zero tolerance policy for no-shows to matches. If you don't show up to a match, and don't call or e-mail before, you will be removed from the roster.
- In case of rain before a match or practice (up to 48 hours before), it is the player’s responsibility to call the manager to see if a match/practice has been cancelled. If you are in any doubt on whether the game is to be played, show up at the field at the appointed time. (I can’t stress that last point enough!)
- All players are to be at the field 1 hour before match time, for proper warm-up. Players not following this rule may lose their starting 11 position.
- Players should try to give their business to the club sponsor(s), whenever possible, especially after practices and matches. Team cohesion OFF the field is as important as ON the field. Please join your teammates for a pint after the match!
- Players shall pay their $300 club membership fees prior to the 1st match. Membership entitles every player a spot on the roster for one season, and is not a guarantee of playing time. Certain arrangements are possible for players still in school or that have financial hardship.
- Players shall not yell or shout negative things at their teammates, referee, or coaches during the match or practice. Players breaking this rule may be fined $10 per instance. Keep it positive!
- Players are expected to keep in shape on their own time. Only a small portion of practice will be dedicated to workout-like / conditioning exercise. A Fitness test (such as the cooper or bleep) will be given occasionally to make sure you are fit.
- Players coming back from injury are to attend at least one full practice, and possibly pass the fitness test before they can play in a match.
- All players shall sign an agreement before the start of the season saying that they have read these rules and agree to them.
Any problems? See the manager. Want to improve your play? Call your teammate.
Play hard, have fun, hustle, and play fair at all times. Good things will happen!
These rules are not meant as a chokehold or hindrance, but as a vehicle for success for the club as a whole. Experience shows that most teams in the San Francisco Soccer Football League fail or disband not because of a losing record or being outplayed, but by being disorganized or poorly run…
