Question for soccer defenders?
Ok tryouts are next week and I'm going for defense, and I need help on something that really hold drives me nuts.

That picture is a scenario I'm often in. The two red circles are opponents, and I'm the blue x. The one outside of the box has the ball, and the other one is wide open. I never know if I should charge the person with the ball or drop back and block the other guy. Every time it happens people tell me to do different things.
It all depends if you have a team mate close to you he should take the guy left to you and you must go for the guy with the ball and try to either take the ball away or block a shot. If you are all by yourself then you must wait till he gets a bit closer. Face him but have your body facing toward the other player without the ball in this position it will be easier for you to try to stop the ball if he passes it to his partner or to block a possible shot.
