How to handle a severe asthma attack when an inhaler is not handy..?
I went to play broom ball with friends tonight and ended up running around too much. As a result I had an asthma attack.I had forgotten to take my inhaler with me and had to suffer 15 min with total breathlessness .Luckily I had a friend who spare me his because it was kind of an emergency...
I am 26 and have asthma attacks since I was a kid but lately,the occurance of attacks has gone up and I have attacks especially when I indulge in a physical activity like running, playing soccer and sex.
Please let me know how to get rid of asthma and ways to handle sudden attacks when an inhaler is not around...

Asthma narrows the airways making it hard to move air. ok that's obvious, I know.But the point is the faster you breathe the less air gets into your lungs due to turbulence in the airways. A slow laminar flow is best. But of course you can't do that during an attack but what you can do is breathe faster this will be self limiting and will slow you're breathing down. Don't listen to the jerks that tell you to breathe in thru your nose and out thru your mouth. They have never had an asthma attack. I have many times because I have asthma and COPD. I've been there before my friend. I know what it feels like to not be able to get enough air.And the panic you can't help, that's pure survival reflex. Don't ever forget your inhaler again. That should be with you at ALL times because you really never know.
And after the attack tell those people to run around the block three time and then breath through their nose, same thing.I get that crap from EMS people all the time.
